What are your days and hours?

We usually see clients Monday – Friday during daytime hours. Days and hours vary by location, including telehealth. Contact us to find a time that works for you.

What do I need to bring with me to my first appointment?

After you have provided your full name, date of birth, and email, our office will create a client portal account for you to complete all intake paperwork.

Please complete and submit all paperwork online prior to your first appointment. You will also need to provide identification before or at your first appointment. Providers may not see you without all documentation completed. If you have any questions about this process, please let our office know in advance.

How long will my appointment last?

Your initial appointment, called an Intake Evaluation, will last approximately 60 minutes.

Ongoing individual sessions are 45 minutes and usually start on the hour. Longer sessions may be scheduled and are recommended in some circumstances.

What is the first appointment like?

In this first session, we’ll go over policies, what to expect in therapy, and talk about what’s going on in your life right now that brings you into therapy.

We’ll discuss your history and goals for therapy and answer any questions you have.

How much do you charge? And how do I pay?

Rates for Lisa Hedden, PhD, LPC, NCC, ACS:

60-minute Intake Evaluation $225

45-minute Individual Session $150

60-minute Individual Session $200

30-minute Individual Session $110

EMDR Intensives – billed at hourly (60-minute) rate (3 – 8 hours)

Rates for Ellie Potts, MS, CRC, NCC:

60-minute Intake Evaluation $175

45-minute Individual Session $120

60-minute Individual or Family Session $150

Forms of Payment: Our office accepts credit, debit, HSA, and flex spending/FSA cards. We’ll keep the card number on file, and future sessions will be charged to your card prior to your appointment.

Do you take insurance?

We are an out-of-network provider with insurance companies.

If you wish to use out-of-network benefits, your payment is due at the time of service. Then you may seek reimbursement from your insurance company according to your benefits.

Insurance will only pay claims for mental health disorders that are impacting your functioning. Insurance companies may limit the number of sessions they will pay.

If you plan to file for out-of-network reimbursement, please let us know.

We will discuss diagnosis code(s), and upon your request, we will email you a monthly superbill, which is the documentation insurance companies need to evaluate your claim.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Call, text, or email. Please be sure to leave your name, phone number, and a few specific times that you will be available for us to reach you.

We’ll call you back or email within 24 hours weekdays to arrange a short phone consultation. There is no fee for this phone consultation, and it will last about 15 minutes.

What is your cancellation policy?

Appointment changes or cancellations need to be made more than 24 hours in advance of your appointment, not including holidays and weekends.

The appointment time is reserved especially for you, so any changes within 24 hours will be charged the full appointment fee.

Who do you work with?

Within our practice, we see children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Services vary by provider, and often you can choose between in-person and virtual (telehealth) sessions.

At this time, we are only able to see clients who are physically located in the state of Georgia at the time fo the appointment.

Will there be homework?

Ahh, an age-old question! Yes… and no…

Yes, in the sense that your therapist may ask you to practice things between sessions, to begin using the skills you are learning and have some tools in your toolkit. We may also suggest books to read or listen to on audio. If you’re the type who likes a to-do list, you can definitely make one.

But the answer is also no in the sense that whatever you choose to do between sessions is up to you. We’ll let you know why we’re recommending certain things, but the choice is always yours – and we’re not grading your performance.

Your therapist will also appreciate you telling her what you like, don’t like, and why so that suggestions can be tailored to YOU!

What is your education and training?

Lisa Hedden, PhD, LPC, NCC, ACS: I earned a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!), and my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University in Atlanta, GA. I completed practicum and internship in eating disorder treatment at Atlanta Center for Eating Disorders, now Walden Behavioral Care. I have worked in residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient eating disorder treatment.

I am certified in EMDR, which is a rigorous process of training, consultation, and experience. I have also completed advanced EMDR training in attachment, work with groups/families, children, and with individuals immediately after crisis and in ongoing traumatic situations. I maintain certification and keep my knowledge current, and I support other therapists new to EMDR.

I frequently attend training in methods of therapy, as well as training for specific needs that clients may have.

Ellie Potts, MS, CRC, NCC: I am a doctoral candidate in the Counselor Education and Supervision doctoral program at the University of Georgia. I earned a masters degree in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling from Georgia State University, and I’m a National Certified Counselor. I have also been selected as a National Minority Fellow with the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). I am currently practicing counseling under the direction of Dr. Lisa Hedden at Footpath Partners and under the clinical supervision of Dr. Erin Mason and Dr. George McMahon.

I seek to continually grow and learn through formal and informal education, training, consultation, and supervision.

Do I have to be Christian for you to be my therapist?

Not at all, even the slightest bit. Your spiritual preferences or lack thereof are yours and yours alone, and our therapists hold that in high regard. Many people come to us with bad experiences in their past from organized religion and don’t want to include spirituality at all in our work. That’s okay.

We also work with clients of different faiths and welcome the diversity in our practice.

Can I cuss during our appointments? Will you be offended?

Come as you are. Say what you need and want to say. We’ll be respectful of each other, but you don’t have to “clean up” to come to therapy.

We’d like to get to know you just as you are.

Is it okay to bring in drinks and food?

Sure, bring in drinks if you want. Lids are best, but they’re not a requirement. We have coffee and water available in our waiting area. Generally, snacks are fine, too. If it’s mealtime and you’re hungry or you missed a meal, eat.

Your brain will think better with some nourishment! It will be more difficult to eat in sessions when we’re processing with EMDR or some other types of therapy, but we’ll figure it out as we go.

Can I smoke or vape during the appointment or anywhere in your office?

Sorry, that’s a no-go. Our office is smoke and vape free.
